Monsters and Critics have a long review of the Superhero DVD, which our very own Drake Bell stars in. I have not seen the movie, but would like to, just because of Drake Bell.
Here are a few quotes from the review which involve Drake Bell’s character Rick Ricker:
“Rick is trying to impress her as their class tours on a tour of the research facility of the millionaire Lou Landers (Christopher McDonald), who is also Lance’s uncle. A genetically altered dragonfly escapes and bites Rick. He develops superpowers from the bite and dons a costume to combat evil as the Dragonfly.”
Sounds interesting.
“Drake Bell has honed his over-the-top acting skills on shows that my kids watch and it’s about the same in this film.“
He is definitely good at over-the-top and the show he is referring to is obviously Drake and Josh. The critic mentions that a sequel is already in the works. I imagine Drake Bell will reprise his role as the green superhero.
Check out these gorgeous pictures of Josh Peck from the Los Angeles premiere of his movie “The Wackness“. He is looking super sharp in his suit. Is it pink? I can’t tell!
PopMatters had a fast chat with Josh Peck, one of the stars of “The Wackness” and the interview is great! This is a role that Josh is going to be remembered by for quite some time and from what I’ve heard, it’s a role that has taken his acting career to the next level. It’s good to see his acting abilities taken seriously.
Here’s some of the interview:
Q. “The Wackness” is a far cry from “Drake & Josh.” You must’ve been psyched to be cast.
A. I was going to the bank that morning and it was an odd day because … I just don’t go to the bank. (He chuckles.) My mom gives me cash, and I spend it. So my manager calls, saying, “You booked ‘Wackness,’ man.” I freaked out for 10 seconds. Then I realized I would have to be buck naked in the movie and all my neuroses flooded back to full effect.
Q. Guess a love scene can be pretty nerve-racking.
A. I was afraid that when the robe fell so would the heavens.
Q. You’ve actually lost a lot of weight in recent years, haven’t you?
A. About 100 pounds, over two years. I stay healthy. I play on a basketball team - I’m awful, but damn it, I play with a lot of heart.
Q. Are you a Knicks fan?
A. They’re a tough team to love, but I . I hope they acquire LeBron in a couple a years. I think they’re really gonna turn it around this year.
Q. Your mother was a single mom. Did your parents divorce when you were young?
A. I never met my dad. Yeah … that’s how that goes.
College 2008 is coming out on August 28th and it stars one of our favorite Teen Nick star Drake Bell.
Here’s a description of the movie:
“A new outrageous comedy, COLLEGE is the story of three high school seniors (Drake Bell, Andrew Caldwell and Kevin Covais) who visit a local college campus as prospective freshman anticipating the best weekend of their lives. Once there, the rowdiest fraternity on campus (featuring Nick Zano, Gary Owen and Zach Cregger) decides to recruit the boys as pledges, subjecting them to endless humiliations, in return for granting them access to the no-holds-barred college party scene. But once the boys catch the eye of some of the older sorority girls (Haley Bennett, Camille Mana and Natalie Walker), the threatened Frat-boys increase the pre-frosh humiliation and blackmail them by threatening to expose their age. The boys decide to fight back, retaliating with a major revenge scheme that lands them on top. What began as the weekend-from-hell turns into the BEST. WEEKEND. EVER.”
This is the first I have heard of this movie starring Josh Peck. It’s called ‘The Wackness‘. Here’s the trailer:
Looks interesting doesn’t it? It’s good to see Josh Peck in a movie! Here’s the plot summary according to IMDB:
“Story, set in 1994, centers on a troubled teenage drug dealer and a drug-addled psychiatrist — after the former trades pot for therapy sessions, then falls for the doctor’s daughter.”
Other who appear in the movie are Mary-Kate Olson, Ben Kingsley, Method Man and several others. You can check it out at www.thewackness.com.
